Breaking the Silence That Costs Lives, Opportunities, and Outcomes

Clarity, Confidence, and Conviction

Too many people stay silent in moments that shape their health, education, and future—not because they lack intelligence or ability, but because no one ever taught them how to speak up with confidence and strategy. My work is about changing that. Self-advocacy sits at the center of everything I teach.

Through practical tools, honest conversation, and real-world insight, I help audiences discover the power of their voice so they can ask better questions, engage more confidently, and navigate complex systems with clarity, confidence, and conviction.

About Dr. Sophia

Dr. Sophia C Johnson is a doctoral-prepared nurse, advocate, and speaker dedicated to helping people find their voice when it matters most. With more than two decades of experience in both healthcare and leadership, she brings a rare combination of clinical expertise and real-world communication insight to the conversation around self-advocacy.

Dr. Johnson’s multidisciplinary academic background includes a Doctor of Nursing Practice, Master of Science in Nursing, Master of Business Administration, Bachelor of Science in Business Management, and an Associate degree in Liberal Arts. This diverse training allows her to approach complex systems—from healthcare to education—with both strategic and human-centered perspectives.

In addition to her clinical work, Dr. Johnson has served as a nursing educator providing both didactic and clinical instruction, where she played an instrumental role in advancing curriculum improvements. She contributed to transitioning a traditional teacher-centered nursing curriculum toward a student-centered model designed to meet California Board of Registered Nursing (BRN) standards, helping prepare future nurses to think critically, communicate effectively, and advocate for themselves and their patients.

Dr. Johnson is the author of Speak Up!  A Patient Guide to Self-Advocacy and the founder of Advocacy Made Simple, LLC, a platform dedicated to helping individuals communicate more effectively and navigate important conversations with ease.

"Dr. Johnson delivers a message that is both timely and transformative. Her approach to self-advocacy invites individuals to reflect on how silence can shape outcomes and challenges them to engage more thoughtfully in important conversations. Her presentation resonated deeply and sparked meaningful dialogue about communication, personal responsibility, and the quiet internal struggle many people face when deciding whether—or how—to speak the words that truly need to be said."
